OnePlus 5 tips and tricks: about your classy flagship killer
What is not in OnePlus 5 ?
When it was echoed everywhere that "OnePlus 5 is one of the best ever
smartphone in 2017", I couldn't stop myself from getting one. Although I agree
that I was already in need of one, I swear "OnePlus 5" over-fulfilled that
need.

need.
Woww!!. That nerve-protruding moment when I unpacked my new Smartphone Oneplus
5, is just ... aah.. unexplainable :P How lucky and choosy I am? - Well, to buy
this classy flagship phone, as soon as it was launched.
Features that you will never imagine :
1. Cuts to Oneplus 5 Camera.
Oneplus 5 has a shortcut tweak for turning on the Camera. This feature is
active by default. The shortcut for the camera is also available in Galaxy S8’s
home button double-tap or the Moto Z’s dual twist gesture. But what makes
Oneplus 5 unique matters!!
Just double-press the power button on the right-hand edge of the device. You
would jump straight to the phone’s excellent dual-camera setup even when the
phone is locked. You can deactivate it via Settings > Buttons and flicking the
‘Press power button twice for camera’ toggle. As easy as told na?
2. The Spectacular Split screen mode.
Run two apps simultaneously via a smart split screen view. You may have to
text 2 of your GFs at a time -- maybe in one via Hike and the other via
Whatsapp :P. Seriously, I never had to ;) Then choose Oneplus 5 without a
second as it has large and a vibrant display with super powered RAM.The split
screen facility of OnePlus which I'm in love with is not too hard to activate.
That is a shortcut option which like others mentioned above.
You could Assign the ‘Open/close split screen’ option to a button (to double
tap of the home key or long press of the recent apps buttons). Select one of
the open apps in the carousel to pop it into half-screen view and then try
resizing the two open app windows by dragging the central bar up and down and
exit split screen by repeating your newly-set shortcut command.
3. OMG! That Screen!!
The Valiant OnePlus 5’ has a 5.5-inch display of 1080p. Offering an
exaggerated picture OnePlus has a wide range of alternative screen
calibration options.
Peek for Display > Screen calibration and select one of the four presets. You
could also choose ‘Default’ and create your own level of color warmth using a
simple slider.
4. Oneplus 5 bokeh.
On the time of the announcement of OnePlus 5, we were told about its new
dual-camera system which could produce a bokeh effect. Ever wondered how to
take this?
It exists as a stand-alone shooting mode within the camera app. As you swipe
left for switching to video recording, swipe right for ‘Depth effect’ mode.
Then place your object between 0.3 to 2 meters away from the camera and take a
shot in portrait or landscape. The OnePlus 5 uses both cameras to create the
bokeh effect. As a result, you would get the crisp subject and a heavily defocused
background.
5. What the Shelf!! :P
Shelf, the screen that is accessed by swiping to the left from the main home screen. A collection of widgets with a permanent weather report
on top, brings it all together into one screen.
To add widgets to the Shelf, tap the ‘+’ button at the bottom of the screen,
followed by ‘Widget’. To remove or change the position of the widgets, treat
them like you would an app icon and press and hold.
6. Lock screen notifications :
You can now keep an eye on the notifications without unlocking the handset.
Well, this feature is already available on iPhone. Whereas OnePlus hasn’t
activated this option by default. If you are not as gentle as me, the ‘Hide
sensitive notification content’ will help you keep your private notifications
away from others.
Go to Settings > Notifications and hit the Settings icon at the top. Tap the
‘On the lock screen’ option and select ‘Show all notification content’.
7. Special Reading Mode
Reading mode is a setting that essentially makes reading eBooks more pleasant
and natural. Swipe to Settings > Display > Reading Mode and manually turn on
Reading Mode with the appropriate toggle. You could better choose ‘Add apps
for Reading Mode’ so that it would activate automatically at the timely place.
8. Alert slider
Like the iPhone, you can set your phone to ‘Silent’ or ‘Ring’ with a mechanical switch located on the left-hand edge of the handset. What makes this more interesting in the Oneplus is that, the third option - ‘Do not disturb’ which is highly customizable.
Figure this out at Settings > Alert Slider > Do not disturb.
9. One-handed notifications
With OnePlus you can swipe down from anywhere on the main home screens to access the notification menu. Just try this!!
10. Set your shortcuts
You can now assign shortcuts to the home, back, and recent apps key - for a
sustained press or a double tap. Go to Settings > Buttons and follow down the
Home button, Recents button, and Back button headings. Tap on ‘Double tap
action’ or ‘Long press action’ and peek into the provided 10 shortcut options
to fix yours. Also, add shortcuts for a voice search, open the last used app,
open the notification center, etc.
